British Fashion Council competition 2011...Burberry.

Brief: Using the official war artist 'William Orpen' as a starting reference point, design a collection of coats or bags. The amount of looks is up to you. Your designs can be for womenswear or menswear.

Taking the military starting point, I began to look at Lord Baden Powell, founder of the scout movement, who used to disguise himself as a butterfly collector when spying on German camps in the First World War. I wanted to create something that was both whimsical, but had the military undertone running through, in keeping with the brand. 

  Texture is created through embellishment, incorporating the idea of 'waterproof sequins,' using the wrong side of waterproof and coated fabrics, as well as silicon sequins to distort patterned drill.

'Sibling'...mens knitwear with a twist....

Industry brief set by the innovative, London based mens knit label, 'Sibling,' as part of a professional practice project during second year.

Brief: To design a range of knitwear and accessories, for 'Sibling,' clever, humorous, forward thinking and bold, pushing the boundaries of menswear.

Mock interview by Smith & Pye recruitment. Overall winner.

Interned at the brand for 6 months, helping to make show pieces, involved in their Spring/Summer 2010 London Fashion Week Presentation, sampling.

Based on 'Gaming geeks,' referencing retro games and 'geek' aesthetic of fairisle tanks and rucksacks with a twist, embellished with giant sequins.
